QA and test automation jobs in Bengaluru
QA and test automation engineer jobs in Bengaluru: SDET skills, Selenium, Playwright and API testing, interviews and how to grow.
Quality engineers make sure software works before customers find out it does not. The field has moved from manual testing towards automation: software development engineers in test (SDETs) write code that tests code, build test frameworks and run them in every pipeline.
Bengaluru has a large QA market across product companies, services firms and global testing centres. Automation and SDET roles pay more and are growing; purely manual roles are shrinking.
What the work involves
- Write automated tests for web, mobile and APIs, and keep them fast and reliable.
- Build and maintain test frameworks and run them in CI/CD.
- Plan testing for new features with developers and product managers.
- Run performance and load tests, and track down flaky tests.

How interviews usually run
Expect a coding round (simpler than for developer roles but real), a round on test design where you list how you would test something like a login page or a payment API, and questions on the frameworks in the job description. Many companies ask you to write an automated test live.
How to stand out
- Show a framework you built or improved, and how it cut release time or escaped bugs.
- Strong coding skills move you from QA into SDET and higher-paying roles.
- Learn API and contract testing; UI-only automation is less valued.
